For parents, a swelling in a baby's groin is always worrying. An 8-month-old boy came to CritiCare Asia Hospitals after a week of swelling on the right side. It could be pushed back in and was not painful, and he had no fever or tummy swelling. A right inguinal hernia had already been diagnosed at another hospital.
On admission, he weighed 7.6 kg, and his heart rate, breathing and oxygen levels were normal. Our surgeons repaired the hernia with keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery, closing the opening at the deep ring. He was monitored closely after the procedure and went home the next day.
